Alfonso Gomez

CEO of BBVA in Switzerland, position he has held since July 2014; Vice Chairman of the Board of the Association of International Banks in Switzerland (AFBS) and Board Member of the Swiss Finance Institute, In the three years prior to assuming this position, he worked as Head of Global Private Banking, based in New York, leading strategic projects in all the Private Banking Units of the geographical regions in which BBVA operates. Before that he was BBVA's Head of Private Banking for Spain and Portugal, in Madrid. From 2004 to 2008 he lived in London, where he was General Manager of Corporate Banking, Global Trade Finance and Global Clients, becoming Country Manager of BBVA UK in 2006. During his first year in BBVA, which he joined in 1994, he led multicultural teams and forged highly successful relationships with clients in the Corporate and Investment Banking business unit, leading the first Infrastructure Project Finance in Latin America. He has a profound disruptive vocation for the financial industry and currently leads projects within his organization focused on the Crypto space, being BBVA in Switzerland the first Bank in the Group operating with Blockchain technology and the first Tier 1 bank in the Eurozone to start operations in this area.
